Full Time Class 1 Long-Haul Driver

We are a locally owned and operated business specializing in the transport of grain and potash based out of Whila, AB.
Type of Employment: Full time–Permanent
Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible
Location of work: The main routes consist of overnight runs within the Alberta and Saskatchewan provinces. Runs are usually done with the same trailer, some exceptions apply.
Driver must have:
- Class 1 with 3 years of experience
- Must provide a 3 year abstract with no more than 3 demerits
- Up to date safety tickets (H2S, First Aid, TDG and WHIMIS)
- Experience hauling Super B trailers with hopper bottoms and pneumatics
Job duties:
- Operate and drive truck and trailer to transport goods
- Loading and unloading of goods
- Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
- Pre-Trip, en route and post trip inspections of all company equipment
- Plan travel schedules and routes with the use of atlases and other trip planning aids
- Receive and relay information to central dispatcher
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, and other equipment
- Carry out all duties related to long-haul driving such as brake adjustments
- Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness
- Perform preventive maintenance, and basic emergency roadside repairs.
- Maintain log books, bill of landing and all required paperwork (paperwork is provided)
