On the scale of easy/moderate/hard Ludwigia is an 'easy' plant to keep in an aquarium as they do quite well in low, medium and high light tanks. One of the few red aquarium plants that keep it's red color without big need of fertilizers or co2.

Ludwigia are a basic plant without special needs that need to be followed as well as being low maintenance. This plant grows quite well above the water surface as shown in the last picture. This plant is fast growing, provides oxygen to the water and great to reduce nitrates in balancing your water. This plant will use fish waste as it's own fertilizer. A perfect combination to help your aquarium! Fish are healthier in natural environment which has live plants than an environment with plastic plants.

This plant is grown without any special water buffers therefore this plant is very hardy for Calgary's hard water conditions.
